Every journey begins with a single step.
If you are reading this, then you’re one of my first subscribers. I’ve been thinking about freedom on and off since about 2012, but I only started publishing my ideas last year. And only now have I started to reach an audience.
It’s been a long journey, yet it’s only the beginning.
Conceptual development
This and last week, I’ve been reviewing the concepts around what’s necessary for health.
Although I suspect the topic will make you yawn, I believe it’s important to have a rigorous foundation. We can’t argue that we “shouldn’t work more than necessary” unless we can clearly stipulate what necessary means.
It’s a complex topic, but I hope to have some articles ready for peer review soon.
In the meantime, here’s an illustration.

Progress on growing the community
Online writing is my current strategy.
I have worked on and off on a book draft - but it’s quite a project and difficult to develop without continuous feedback. Instead, I believe the best way forward is to do online writing: publish pieces of the ideas. This allows for a data-driven approach that 1) enables peer review, 2) improves my writing skills, and 3) informs what resonates with people.
This week, I’ve published two texts to this end:
I've also "researched" the options for our own Wiki.
There appear to be no silver bullets: all reasonable long-term options demand that we host our own server. It remains the long-term goal, but for now, we will wait until we have more people onboard.
Suggestions and thoughts are welcome, as always.
Material I’ve stumbled upon
For those interested, this week I stumbled upon the Global Wealth Report, which is an excellent read about how… “fantastic” the world is.
Thoughts of the week
If people are free because they can choose their employer, then why were 16-hour jobs so popular during the Industrial Revolution? People were so free they even voluntarily chose to work as children.
A quote from Braveheart:
"Dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!"
Freedom is more than just a concept. It’s what gives life meaning.
Let no one convince us otherwise.
Vive la résistance!
